A morning at Heri Heights - Day 5

As I sit sipping my coffee and eating my fresh fruit breakfast, captivated by the immense bird songs coming form the trees, I cant help but feel at peace. The new apartment complex is top notch and the service is incredible. Everyone is so friendly and the grounds are tranquil and green. The tall jungle trees tower over the red brick buildings and the winding outdoor corridors maze through the complex. Its the perfect balance of modern amenities and rural African nature. The ground is moist and the sky is slightly overcast but its a lovely serene and cool morning. I can see the sun slowly burning off the cloud cover, for a sure sunny afternoon. Its perfect. Now off to explore the Heri Heights complex.

Heri Heights - Night 4

Last night I moved from Neha's families house to the apartment complex down the road where over the next few days friends old and new will be arriving to stay during the wedding. I would like to thank Neha's parents Kirti and Atul for all the hospitality at their home, I have had a wonderful few days with Neha and her family in their beautiful house eating some amazing Indian and Ugandan food. Very excited for the next 10 days here at Heri Heights, and can't wait to see some old friends that will start arriving from tomorrow.

Curios Market and Diamond Plaza - Day 4

We had a relaxing day at the Westland's Triangle Curious Market walking around for a while checking out the local art and wood carvings. Surrounded by beautiful ebony carvings and beaded bracelets and necklaces, I think I am finally learning how to barter, although I am still not very good at it.

After that we hit DP (Diamond Plaza) to pick up some more things for the wedding and do some shopping. The winding alley ways and basement shops were filled with indian tailors, fabric shops, jewelry shops and some very interesting home remedy shops.

Jambo!! - Nairobi Day 3

It's been unseasonably rainy in Nairobi for a while now. Which is good for the land since they are normally in a constant state of drought... Not so good for the outdoor wedding plans. So after some tea on a cloudy morning we hit some emergency wedding meetings, a photo shoot for the bride and groom and a tasting session to choose some delicious hand made Indian treats called Mathai for the reception.

A beautiful fresh morning

Haberdasheries, Moroccan Tea and Shish-a - Nairobi Day 2

Nairobi Day 1.
I awake to the sounds of birds and the smell of fresh rain. After a healthy juice breakfast we headed out to the city to run some errands. The weather is beautiful, the temperature is perfect and the sky is blue. We took a drive around the city, where you can pretty much get anywhere in 20 minutes, through dirt roads and the only 2 lane 'major' highway that spans the city. Needless to say, it was nice to not see 8 lanes of tarmac, but driving in Nairobi is rather interesting, as you have to fight through pedestrians, cars and taxis.

Dirt road travels.

The Central Business district, as about as skyscraper-ish as you'll get in Kenya.

The Diamond Plaza, which is essentially little India in Nairobi, this is were we went to get my blouse stitched for my Saree for the wedding.
