The Invite

This will be the first time I have attended a tradtional Indian wedding, and its rather daunting when your invitations' (yes, plural) arrive in a nice little box and your gracious bride friend notifies you that you should really book a vacation after the wedding... And when I say daunting, I mean completely overwhelmed with excitement.

A traditional Indian wedding is spread out over 6-8 days. Events and rituals are celebrated such as:

Satsang and Kurmai - Bangle ceremony.

The Formal Engagement - I believe this is the grooms formal marriage proposal?

Sangeet - "Bachelorette" party. The word Sangeet is Sanskrit meaning "sung together".

Mehndi Ceremony - This is an entire day dedicated to getting Henna!!! :D

The Wedding Ceremony - Elephants maybe? Or maybe I watch too much TV.

I am sure I will be able to elaborate much more on these traditions after I have experienced them first hand!

A beautiful gold monogramed box arrived in the mail a few weeks ago....

Inside where three separate event invitations, all adorned with gold trim, embossed text and very subtle illustrations themed to the specific event of that invitation.

All in all, a pretty epic invite collection!! My design hat approves.
